Op Art Graphics × 10-gruppen Printed Textiles
Both use stripes and repeats, but Op Art makes them vibrate; keep the stripes calm and add a figure to stay on the 10-gruppen side.

Text · 10-gruppen Printed Textiles
The printed fabrics of 10-gruppen, a Stockholm collective of ten textile designers founded in 1970: bright, flat all-over repeats of stripes, checks, dripping drops and simple figurative motifs such as dogs, bananas and Stockholm landmarks, in a few saturated inks on cotton or linen. Against the discreet patterns then usual in Swedish textiles, they made cheap, cheerful pattern for everyday goods, sold by the metre at IKEA and on bags and trays in the group's own shop. Unlike Marimekko's large organic shapes, the repeats are mid-sized, cleanly drawn and often pictorial.
Nunito; 10-gruppen Printed Textiles used No lettering in the repeat and IKEA's capitalised Swedish product names (STRIX/STRAX, PLASK, SOLREGN, RANDIG BANAN, as IKEA Museum writes them), the form in which most buyers met the group's prints; this naming is IKEA's convention, not a choice of the group, and the only lettering tied to the prints in the sources

With Op Art Graphics
- Brazilian Concrete Design Pairs well · Start from concrete design's calm serial module, then introduce op distortions in one zone for controlled movement.
- Generative & Dynamic Identities Pairs well · Code op's progressive line modulation so an identity can animate and vary while staying perceptually striking.
- Ma & Wabi-sabi Aesthetics Contrasts · Wabi-sabi's quiet irregular textures are the antithesis of mechanical vibration; give one op element plenty of calm space to avoid visual fatigue.
- Psychedelic Poster Pairs well · Psychedelic posters borrowed op's vibrating colour edges; combine precise line fields with melting lettering for kinetic music graphics.
- Zagreb Modernist Graphics (EXAT 51 to Teatar &TD) Pairs well · The New Tendencies shows in Zagreb were one of op art's sources; take op's vibrating line fields and hold them inside Picelj's square module and small lowercase credit line for a gallery poster that stays systematic.
- Finnish Bold Print (Marimekko Modernism) Contrasts · Both fill a field edge to edge with one repeated module in the 1960s, but op art's ruled precision makes the eye vibrate while Finnish bold print keeps hand-cut edges and calm flat shapes; choose between perceptual shock and relaxed joy.
- Di Tella Graphic Design (Instituto Torcuato Di Tella) Pairs well · The CLAEM programmes and the Premio Di Tella 64 poster already speak Op; run one heavy grotesque title through an optical field, as Distéfano did, for an event that should vibrate.
- 2 Tone Graphics Pairs well · Let the checkerboard carry optical energy as border and ground around a flat figure.
With 10-gruppen Printed Textiles
- Finnish Bold Print (Marimekko Modernism) Pairs well · Mix a large organic Marimekko shape with a mid-sized pictorial 10-gruppen repeat for a Nordic interior that is bold at two scales.
- Josef Frank and Svenskt Tenn Botanical Prints Contrasts · Frank fills a long repeat with many small botanical motifs; 10-gruppen uses one plain everyday motif in few flat colours, the cheerful answer to that richness.
- Scandinavian Functionalism Pairs well · Set a bright repeat behind calm functionalist typography and white space: the pattern brings the colour, the layout keeps the order.
